I can’t believe how many posts I have started and not finished, Covid has played merry hell on our mental health as well as the Performing Arts industry.
Ok so where to start……..
The new studio is up and running and we’ve had some wonderful photography sessions done by some amazing photographers like Tina Sampson, George Koncz Photography, Ben Tisdell just to name a few. If you are interested in hiring the studio space please feel free to contact me.
I have been able to create a fantastique work space to make fans ect. I have had a few projects on the back burner that I have now brought to life.
The first one is a new type of stave, as acrylic staves are susceptible to breaking or cracking I wanted to try something that was tougher. I have always admired the staves made by a prominent fan maker overseas and wanted to replicate the durability of their product without copying their designs. I struggled with this for a long time, not wanting to “step on their toes” so to speak. I have done a lot of research with a supplier and have decided to go ahead with aluminium staves. The stave design is the same as the current acrylic stave that I produce.
The aluminium stave can be powder coated to match or contrast the feathers and at this point will be available in solid colours and a small range of glitters. The aluminium staves can be added to any fans you order or they can be ordered as part of your DIY fan kit. The aluminium staves are of course more expensive than the acrylic however they are more durable and give you a thinner hand grip.
The second project is a range of vegan friendly boas. Don’t get me wrong, a big thick feather boas are absolutely beautiful but they are expensive . Feather boas have a habit of dropping feathers everywhere, leaving a big clean up behind. The tulle option is vegan friendly, can be customised to your colour requirements. The tulle can be a solid colour or have accents of glitter or all glitter, the choice is yours. Here’s a few I’ve made recently, they have all been sold except the red and gold glitter.
If you are interested in purchasing a boa, please let me know I am happy to discuss your requirements.
I am currently making a narrower boa as a budget friendly option. I will post pics soon.
That’s about it for now
Love and light
Annette
